MILITARY PARTNERSHIPS HELP SUPPORT COUNTY’S ECONOMY

Hancock County Port & Harbor Commission

November 4, 2015

Hancock County is fortunate to have a healthy mix of large industry centered at Port Bienville Industrial Park and small businesses spread around the county, as well as a vibrant arts community and a world class scientific complex anchored at Stennis Space Center.

Another key component of the county’s economic foundation is the well established military operations and infrastructure at Stennis Space Center and Stennis International Airport, where critical training takes place.

Military and civilian personnel contribute to the local economy through their Defense Department jobs and as residents of Hancock County.

This month we take a look at the vital military-related work done by Hancock County-based businesses including MAC LLC, a leading manufacturer of lightweight ammunition, and Koenig Stainless Inc., a major manufacturer of custom stainless steel and other sheet metal products.

Also in this month’s report, the Naval Small Craft Instruction and Technical Training School welcomes a new class of international students and Coast Guard Port Security Unit 308, based at Stennis International, returns home after its deployment in Cuba.
