HCPHC EMPLOYEES SET TO RETIRE AT END OF JUNE

June 25, 2019

HANCOCK COUNTY, Mississippi — The Hancock County Port and Harbor Commission has announced the retirement of two long-time employees.  Kevin Carlisle, Director of Stennis International Airport, and Cheryl Coogan, Receptionist, will both retire at the end of June.

Carlisle, who has worked for HCPHC for 15 years, said that he’ll miss, “the people on the airfield, and the relationships we’ve built throughout the years”.  His duties as Airport Director include oversight of airport and airpark operations, infrastructure projects, and facilities maintenance.

“Kevin Carlisle is a staple of the Stennis Airport – and he will be missed” said Bill Cotter, Chief Operating Officer.  “Over the years, Kevin has been instrumental in keeping airport operations flowing smoothly and has shown dedication to our mission through his stewardship of Stennis International Airport and Airpark”.

Cheryl Coogan has worked for HCPHC for almost 20 years, beginning her employment in 2001 as the Administrative Assistant for the airport.  Coogan said that her job, “was an unbelievable learning experience” and that her “favorite part has been working with the variety of planes throughout the years”.

“Kevin and Cheryl have served the citizens of Hancock County and the customers and tenants at Stennis Airport with distinction” said Bill Cork, CEO of the Hancock County Port and Harbor Commission, which owns Stennis Airport.  “They are both wonderful people who deserve to rest and spend some time focused on new adventures in their retirement”.

Both Carlisle and Coogan will celebrate their last day as official employees on June 28, and each have plans underway to begin enjoying retirement.   HCPHC is currently performing a nationwide search to find Carlisle’s replacement as Airport Director.
