The Hancock County Port and Harbor Commission elected officers at their Oct. 14 meeting to serve one-year terms.
The new officers are Derek Necaise, president; Paula Jordan, vice president; Michael Bennett, secretary; and Bob Martin, treasurer. Also at the meeting, David Holman and Michael Casano were sworn in as commissioners by Hancock County Court Clerk Ashley Holland.
Necaise, who was appointed to the commission by District 3 Supervisor Kodie Koenenn, owns and operates Neco’s Family Market and also Necaise Consulting Services.
Jordan was appointed by District Two Supervisor Greg Shaw and is the manager of her husband’s chiropractic clinic in Wiggins.
Bennett works for the Naval Oceanographic Office and was appointed to the Commission by Darrin "Bo" Ladner, District Five Supervisor.
Martin worked for 40 years in community relations and safety for the second-largest Class 1 railroad in the nation and was appointed by District One Supervisor Theresa Ryan.
Aline Ward and Bob Swanson were sworn in as members of the commission earlier this month. Ward, who was appointed by Bay St. Louis Mayor Mike Favre, retired from Mississippi Power after 35 years of service.
Bob Swanson retired from Sears after 38 years and was re-appointed to the Commission by Waveland Mayor Mike Smith.
David Holman, president of Ranchland Tractor & ATV in Saucier, was appointed by District Four Supervisor Scotty Adam.
Michael Casano, who was appointed by the city of Diamondhead, is president of the Casano Law Firm which has been operating since 2011.
